Artist's Description
I think this is the hardest painting I've ever done! Hopefully my elk doesn't look like a mutant in the woods :) I got my reference photo from some friends but its face was totally shadowed out but I loved how the elk was framed in the trees. This elk kept looking too bambi cute in the face..then he looked like a deer..then a bear..then a wolf..then a pig ..I even got the Lion King and a squirrel! I must have looked at a 1000 elk photos. Side views are most common..front angles, hardly any! Well..my friends said he looks like a elk...so here he is..Elk in the Woods. Done in Painter 9.5 using a variety of brushes..thanks for looking :) And thanks Jesse for the awesome reference shot! :)

Although, I didn't considered myself an artist, drawing was something I've done all my life. Art was always my favorite class in school..and recess..and study-hall of...
